The benefits of a well designed MVHR ventilation System.

Putting aside of advantages listed below of a MVHR system, one of the major benefits of such a system is the energy cost savings. It can cut heating costs significantly by recovering most of the heat that would be wasted and therefore cut energy usage with minimal running costs and requiring very little in the way of maintenance.

A Cooler Environment.

In the summer months the MVHR unit switches to summer bypass it is no longer collecting energy, it is dependent on incoming air temperature ideally the air intake should be located north facing.

There are options to cool the incoming air such as Awaduct ground pipes which is passive and energy efficient there's also cooling coils through Evaporative cooling or heat pumps though not ideal due to the design characteristics of MVHR and the low rates of air it provides. Another possible option would the the Komfovent series of RHP ventilation units ideally on on each floor.

Eliminates mould.

Mould thrives in damp humid conditions, therefore modern air tight energy efficient homes are an ideal breeding ground to allow these spores to exist. Mould is not only unsightly but is an heath hazard irritating the lungs and is particularly hazardous for Asthma sufferers.

That is of course where a MVHR system is a necessity, working 24/7 throughout the year. The ventilation system is monitoring the humidity levels and keeps air circulating throughout the building and helping to dry and evaporate the moisture within the air but keeping it within acceptable parameters.
